A fresh, simple, and sunny recipe, where the delicate flavor of sardines blends with the zest of lemon and the sweetness of subtly fruity olive oil.
Ingredients (serves 3-4):
8-10 fresh sardine fillets (boneless)
2 lemons
1/2 lime
4-5 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
1 clove of garlic
A few sprigs of herbes de Provence
A pinch of Espelette pepper
Fleur de sel & pepper
Recipe:
Gently rinse the sardine fillets in fresh water and pat them dry with paper towels.
In a bowl, combine the juice of one lemon and half a lime. Next, add some Herbes de Provence, a pinch of Espelette pepper, the very finely minced garlic, and the Création olive oil. Mix everything together.
In a dish, arrange the sardine fillets in a single layer. Cut the remaining lemon into thin slices and distribute them over the sardines.
Generously pour the prepared marinade over the sardine fillets. Then cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 to 2 hours (ideally 3 hours).
Remove the dish from the refrigerator 10 minutes before serving so the sardines regain their delicate flavor.
For even more deliciousness:
Add a few strips of lemon zest to enhance the freshness.
Sprinkle with fresh parsley or chives.
Serve with toasted bread or focaccia. Add a few capers for a slightly salty touch.
Enjoy!
